The 173rd Medals & Ribbons Criteria
(In other words, what they did to earn it)!
*** NOTE *** To all reading this. This is almost the complete criteria, however it is still under revision. This will be subject to change at any time.
RIBBONS
173rd Officer Corps
 Must have been recommended and accepted for promotion to the 173rd Officer Corps.
Presidential Unit Citation
Must have Offensive team of 6 or more of the 173rd. Must Complete 15 Base Captures in one night. Must have been part of ALL 15 Base Captures.
Joint Meritorious Unit Award
Must have offensive team of 6 or more of the 173rd. Must complete 10 base captures in one night. Must have been part of ALL 10 Base Captures.
Valorious Unit Award
Must have Offensive team of 6 or more of the 173rd. Must Complete 8 Base Captures in one night. Must have been part of ALL 8 Base Captures.
Meritorious Unit Award
Must have Offensive team of 6 or more of the 173rd. Must Complete 6 Base Captures in one night. Must have been part of ALL 6 Base Captures. Must have photo or film for review by 173rd Officer Corps.
Defending a Base and Keeping it By Yourself
Must be an air base.
Must defend town from time town is down until buildings start to pop. Defending the base can be defined as destroying nearby enemy (Baracks and Ammo Bunkers) (Ords) to deny troops leading to the defense of the base in defined time period. If map room defense is the only defense, then member needs to land 10 kills in defense of the map room.
Outstanding Defense
Same criteria as above only this is a team effort ribbon. Must have 6 or more of the 173rd in defense team.
All Fighter Expert Ribbon
Need to be able to land 5 kills in at least one or more of each Country Fighter Type.
The Country Fighter Type is defined as United States, United Kingdom, Russian, German, or Japanese. Must be completed during any one tour.
Must demonstrate ability to drop on target with a Damage Hit Percentage of 100% or better. Must be completed in any level prop bomber or jet bomber. Must be able to get 5 enemy (bomber) kills with level bombers during any given tour. Must have 5 base captures in bombers during in one given tour or the squad member must
have a Damage Hit Percentage of 150% or More.
All Ground Vehicle Expert Ribbon
Need to be able to land 5 kills in each Tank, the Ostwind, and also the Wirbelwind. Must have completed 5 enemy base captures with G Vs during any one tour.
Learned to fly Ribbon
Must have at least 10 kills in any one tour. Must have attended at least 2 aircraft training events.
Welcome to the 173rd Ribbon

Must have been in the squad for two weeks.
Must be voted in by the 173rd Officer Corps.

MEDALS OF THE UNITED STATES
The Medal of Honor
 This medal is simple. Squad member must be awarded all medals on the board to be awarded this medal. Then, the member must have gone above and beyond to be awarded this medal.
The Distinguished Service Cross
 For this medal the member must have all of the US medals awarded. This medal should be awarded for excellence in service to the 173rd. For example, helping new members train, helping with technical issues, lending assistance to recruiting efforts, helping efforts with squads attached to the 173rd. Member must be proficient in all disciplines of Aces High, fighters, bombers, G-Vs. Member must have been with the 173rd for at least a year.
All of the above must be completed in any given tour.
The Distinguished Flying Cross
Fighters.
For this medal the member must be proficient in fighters by demonstrating ability to land air and ground kills with all of the available types of ordnance. Must land 30 or more kills in any given tour. Must achieve a minimum of 9,000 kill points at the end of any given tour. Must demonstrate proficiency in dive bombing attacks by destroying at least one vehicle or aircraft hangar in one pass.
For this medal the member must be proficient in bombers by demonstrating ability to land air and ground kills with all of the available types of ordnance.
Bombers.
Member must land 10 or more bomber kills in any given tour. Member must demonstrate proficiency in bombing by scoring more than 5,000,000 (million) damage points in any given tour. Member must demonstrate bombing abilities by dropping all of the fighter hangars on a small or medium field, or all of the vehicle hangars and troop emplacements on a vehicle field within one sortie.
This medal may be awarded for either fighters or bombers.
All of the above must be completed in any given tour.
The Naval Cross
For this medal the member must land a total of 30 or more kills in any US Naval War Aircraft. Member must also have 15 verified kills as a Ships Gunner in any given tour.
All of the above must be completed in any given tour.
The Naval Gunnery Medal
For this medal the member must land 10 kills as a ships gunner
MEDALS OF THE UNITED KINGDOM
The United Kingdom's Distinguished Service Cross
For this medal the member must have all of the UK medals awarded. Must have landed a 30 kills or more in United Kingdom Fighters. Must have landed 20 kills or more in United Kingdom Bombers. Must have landed 50 kills or more in the Sherman VC. All of the above must be completed in any given tour.
The United Kingdom's Distinguished Flying Cross
For this medal the squad member must have 30 kills or more in United Kingdom Fighters. Must demonstrate ability to land air and land kills utilizing existing and available ordnance. Must demonstrate proficiency in ground attack operations by successfully de-acking and porking any field in any one sortie. For example a vehicle base. As always, must be filmed or witnessed by a member of the 173rd Officer Corps. All of the above must be completed in any given tour.
The United Kingdom's War Medal
For this medal the squad member must have been present during combined squad operations during which 20 or more bases were taken. Must have been present for at LEAST 15 of them.
All of the above must be completed in any given tour.
Air Crew Medal
For this medal the squad member must have landed 20 kills in Lancaster Bombers. For this medal the squad member must have a damage hit percentage of 150% or better. For this medal the squad member must have over 3,000,000 damage points. All of the above must be completed in any given tour.
Distinguished Service Medal
For this medal the squad member must have landed 5 kills or more in any UK Aircraft.
All of the above must be completed in any given tour.
MEDALS OF GERMANY
Germany's Knights Cross (German Iron Cross HIGH award)
This award is second ONLY to the Medal of Honor.
For this medal the member must have all of the German medals awarded. For this medal the member must have landed at least 60 kills in either a Panzer or a Tiger. For this medal the member must have landed at least 50 kills in any German Fighters. For this medal the member must have landed at least 20 kills in a Me262. For this medal the member must have landed at least 60 kills in German FLAK vehicles.
For this medal the member must have landed at least 25 base captures.
For this medal the member must have been with the 173rd for at least a year.
All of the above must be completed in any given tour.
The German Pilot's Medal
For this medal the member must not only have enough points tofly a Me262, but must also land 10 kills in the Me262 as well as landing 30 Kills in OTHER German Fighters.
For this medal the member must land 10 or more kills in the AR 234.
All of the above must be completed in any given tour.
The German Precision Bomber Pilot's Medal
For this medal the member must have landed 10 or more kills in the AR 234. In Lieu of this a member may demonstrate his High Altitude Accuracy by dropping 1 target over 3 different airfields.
To demonstrate this the member must be have an 173rd Officer On Board for each drop.
All of the above must be completed in any given tour.
The German Flak Medal
For this medal is simple. Must land 30 or more kills in a German Flak Vehicle.
All of the above must be completed in any given tour.
Blitz Krieger Award
For this medal the squad member must land 10 or more base captures. Bomber or Vehicle.
All of the above must be completed in any given tour.
MEDALS OF ITALY, RUSSIA, CZECH, OR JAPAN
The Yak Ace Award
Member must land 30 or more kills in the YAK-9T or YAK-9U either model.
All of the above must be completed in any given tour.
The Russian Wings Award
Member must land 30 or more kills in the IL2
All of the above must be completed in any given tour.
The Japanese Zero Award
Member must land 30 or more kills in the A6M or the Ki-61.
All of the above must be completed in any given tour.
The Rising Sun Award
Member must land 30 or more kills in the N1KI.
All of the above must be completed in any given tour.
The Golden Kite Award
Member must land 30 or more kills in the Ki-84.
All of the above must be completed in any given tour.
Member must land 30 or more kills in the C202 or C205 either model. (Award yet to be determined)
